How to Upgrade iPhone from iOS4 or iOS4.01 to iOS4.1

If you need to upgrade from iOS4 or iOS4.01 to iOS4.1, here are the steps you may wanna follow.

Assumption:
Pwnage tool will be out soon

Steps:
1. Install PKGBackup. This will help you to backup Cydia Apps.
2. Install SB Organizer. This in combination with PKGBackup will save your Springboard layout.
3. Run PkgBackup to do a backup of your Cydia Apps.
4. Open iTunes, right click your iPhone under devices and select "backup". This will backup your iPhone
5. (Optional) If you do not want to upgrade your baseband, you can use TinyUmbrella in combination with iTunes to restore to 4.1
6. Go on to upgrade to iOS4.1
7. Do a iTunes sync
8. Download, install and Run limera1n
9. Install PkgBackup to restore back your jailbroken apps.

Limera1n 4.1 problems

If after jailbreaking using Limera1n and you cannot see all your system files anymore via ssh/putty or a phone disk software or iFile, you can try this solution.

Try installing afc2add from Cydia.

This new one includes all 4 bands. Furthermore, the new fashionable Hiphone can be used with any GSM sim card, including those that are prepaid. Common networks that this fashionable Hiphone is used with is T Mobile, Fido, Rogers, and AT&T. It now includes the ability to flip the screens on the phone like turning the pages of a book.

The Amazing Iphone KA08

You may get a lot of questions about the quality and features of the Iphone KA08. Most people are intrigued by it when they see photos of it because: it's smaller; it has dual sim slots; it has all of the major features of the original; and it doesn't require any long term or expensive carriers or plans. The KA08 Is A Cute Mini Phone that is full of features: I think the main thing that draws people's attention to this phone, at least initially, is the small size. Honestly, this is a pretty cute phone. And, it comes in tons of color options including pink, red, blue, green and yellow, as well as your basic blacks, reds, whites, and metallic. A lot of people like that it's no larger than a credit card and that it easily fits in your pocket without poking out or without rubbing up and down your upper leg the way that some of the larger touch screen phones do. So, in terms of appearance and the cuteness factor, it gets an A plus.

Now, concerning the features. Iphone KA08 is considered pretty loaded. It is a quad band. It does have to dual sim slots. It does support Bluetooth and it has media players (music and video) as well as FM radio, web browsing, email, texting, and a digital camera with video recording. It also has one cool bonus feature that you're either going to use a lot of you're not going to use at all - talking text. This means if you get a text and you're too rushed or you're driving and you don't want to have to look down to read your text, the phone will read it to you. It can also accommodate up to 8GB of memory.

If there is one thing missing from this phone, it's Java. Some people find that to be no big deal, considering all of the other things that it offers, but some really like the productivity applications that one can download via Java.

How easy is the iphone KA08 To Use? Is it of a decent quality? If you've ever used or seen a iphone KA08, then I can tell you that this one is fairly typical and that this is a good thing. It has a pretty responsive, high definition touch screen that makes using it pretty fast. The menu and welcome screens are pretty intuitive and the sound quality on both calls and music / video is quite good. The phone is sort of known for their speakers and this one doesn't disappoint. Web browsing is pretty decent and quick too. The camera takes good enough pictures. And the phone feels quite solid and respectable to me.

I'm often asked how hard it is to text on this small phone. It's not too bad, especially if you have smaller hands. But if you're hands are large, there is a stylus that will make this quicker and easier. So, iphone KA08 does have all of the bells and whistles and for the most part, the quality is there. Price wise, this one is usually under $100 and that only tells part of the story because the savings continue over the life of the phone. You aren't bound to any one carrier with iphone KA08. These phones can use any GSM sim card, including pre paid or pay as you go. If you're using a pre paid all in one card (Internet, talk, text, etc.), you can often do everything that you need to do on your cell phone for just over $20 per month. iPhone FaceTime Problems

Heres something I would like to share if your iPhone FaceTime is not working. What has happened? I have been searching numerous places but very few people talk about the missing FaceTime setting. Heres what I have consolidated.

1. Check your FaceTime setting
Go to Settings > Phone and verify your FaceTime is ON.

If your FaceTime setting is missing, I am guessing that you have just jailbroken your phone. FaceTime will have problem working properly after you have jail broken. (Read more here).  Do a Cydia update of the "Base Structure" package and the setting should appear after a reboot.

2. Check you are on WIFI
You should be on WIFI for the FaceTime to work. If you do not mind playing a small fee, my other post will share how to make FaceTime work on 3G.

3. Check your calling party is on iPhone 4
The person you are calling should also be on iPhone 4 with WIFI.

How much 3G data does FaceTime use?

The default FaceTime on iPhone uses WIFI. If you have jailbroken your iPhone, you can do 3G FaceTime as well. You will also need to know that 3G FaceTime will takes up around 180MB of data for a 60 minute call.

Apple offers free iPhone 4 case to fix antenna problem

In a press conference on 16 July, Steve Jobs officially addresses the iPhone antenna problem. He showed similar antenna problems also exist in popular smartphones like Blackberry Bold, HTC Droid Eris, Samsung Omnia II and its a challenge to the smartphone industry.

Apple wants to make everyone happy. They will give out free iPhone 4 case to advent the iPhone antenna problem. The iPhone 4 bumper is now available at $0 on Apple online store until 30 September. Apple will refund existing all iPhone bumper purchases already bought.

A full refund can be made if the iPhone 4 is still unsatisfactory.

The iPhone 4 glass may shatter when dropped

However, the caveat is that it will make the material more brittle and will shatters when dropped. Same thing as the windscreen shattering on impact. Fix iTunes error 1600 during iPhone update

If you are doing an iPhone restore and encounter error 1600 in your iTunes with message "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1600).", heres what you can do.

Most likely, you are on iPhone DFU mode. Reboot your iPhone to normally by pressing Home + Power Button together for 10 seconds. Your iPhone should start to reboot normally. After booting up, try your custom restore again.
